  • Go to Control Panel and click on “Programs” and then” View installed Updates
  • Now look for “Update for Windows 7 (KB971033)
  • Now Right click on it and select Uninstall.

Steps to Block Windows 7 Activation Update KB971033

  • Go to Start Menu and Click  “Windows Update” Program.
  • Select  ”Optional Updates” and Search for the update named “Update for Windows 7 (KB971033)”
  • Right click it and select Hide Update

This will permanently disable the installation of this update.

    I went through these steps multiple times and it did not solve the problem. The first time, I actually located the indicated updated and uninstalled it, but since this information is a couple of years old, there are likely more updates designed to do the same and repeatedly prompt for activation. They are just so numerous that I don’t know which ones to uninstall at this point.

    I guess it’s better avoiding KB2345886 also.

    It says “Install this update to help strengthen authentication credentials in specific scenarios. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer”.
